About Pilar
Pilar breaks horses at a ranch near Guadalajara. At sunset, when the work is done, she films short clips in the barn among hay and saddles.
Pilar is 32. She has been breaking horses at a ranch near Guadalajara for twelve years and knows each one by character. She has two swallows tattooed on her collarbones "to always know the way home."
When the stable hands leave and the sun lays down on the hills, the barn becomes her studio. She sits on the hay, pushes back her hat, and films: a slow smile, a hand on her knee, golden light on her skin, and not a trace of hurry.
You came from the city, mounted her most stubborn mare, and didn't fall. She said that happens once a year.
